West Ham United will likely face a squad exodus this summer, as clubs continue to pursue some of the squad’s most valuable assets following relegation to the Championship.

While much of the focus has been on the futures of West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen and midfield sensation Mateus Fernandes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is emerging as another player generating substantial interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old was one of the Hammers’ commendable contributors despite a tumultuous season and is still one of the most experienced Premier League defenders on the market, as other clubs are keeping an eye on him as West Ham prepare for a key summer rebuild.

West Ham’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka at the centre of Fenerbahce ‘plan’

A recent report from The Telegraph has linked Everton with a £10 million deal for Wan-Bissaka. Now, fresh news from Turkey suggests Fenerbahçe have joined the race for the former Manchester United full-back.

According to Turkish Football, Fenerbahçe are considering a transfer for Wan-Bissaka to bolster their right-back position ahead of next season. According to the source, the Istanbul club views the West Ham defender as a potential successor to Nelson Semedo and are crafting a “negotiation plan” this summer as part of wider squad reshuffling after missing out on the Süper Lig title to Galatasaray.

The Hammers now face a significant financial problem, with projections indicating they need to generate around £150 million from player sales to balance their books in the Championship. Fenerbahçe are hoping to execute a deal for a figure around the same as the one mentioned in the move to Everton.

Fenerbahçe and West Ham have recently met at the negotiating table following the loan of Edson Álvarez, but the former are unlikely to return to the table for the Mexican midfielder, whose time in Turkey has been blighted by managerial change and injuries.

Wan-Bissaka has a long-term deal until 2031 after joining from Manchester two years ago for £15 million, and West Ham would be hesitant to lose a book value. Nuno Espírito Santo’s plans for the upcoming Championship campaign may yet be resolved in the coming weeks, as Wan-Bissaka will spend the rest of June in North America after being named in DR Congo’s 2026 World Cup squad.
