- West Ham intend to keep Jarrod Bowen in their Championship plans
- The Hammers captain does not have a wage cut on his current deal
- Chelsea, Manchester United, and Newcastle United have all expressed interest
Jarrod Bowen remains essential to West Ham United’s Championship plans, despite renewed interest from some of the Premier League’s elite clubs this summer.
The Hammers captain endured the agony of relegation in the campaign just gone, but his dedication to the club has never wavered. Bowen was one of the few players to emerge with meaningful credit from an arduous season, once again carrying the attacking burden with 20 goal involvements, the fifth-most in the league.
That production is precisely why West Ham want to keep the 29-year-old at the London Stadium and help them escape the second tier at the first time of asking.
West Ham intend to keep Jarrod Bowen, even with no wage cut
According to The Sun, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Newcastle United are all keeping an eye on Bowen’s status ahead of the summer window, with West Ham aiming to keep their star forward in the Championship.
Despite the speculation, West Ham believes they are in a better position than most predicted. Bowen signed a long-term contract in 2023 valued at £100,000 a week, which reportedly does not include a relegation wage-reduction option. The club are looking to take in around £150 million from player sales, but if Bowen’s deal remains, it may alleviate the player’s need to seek a contract worth his standard elsewhere.
Bowen has become synonymous with West Ham United’s modern era. From scoring the winning goal in the Europa Conference League final to captaining the team through one of its most difficult eras, the son-in-law of mega fan Danny Dyer has constantly delivered when the pressure is on.
The wide forward was an unfortunate omission from England’s 2026 World Cup squad, which has sparked concerns that he may seek a move to further his international career.
The publication’s report also states that £80 million-rated Mateus Fernandes remains a target of Manchester United and Arsenal, while Crysencio Summerville will likely be on his way out after being selected for the Netherlands World Cup squad.
While the club may need to balance the books after relegation, there is a strong desire behind the scenes to build around their skipper rather than cash in on him. The aim is that Bowen can spearhead an immediate promotion surge and help the team recover Premier League status at the first try.
