Everton set sights on another West Ham star amid fire sale
  • West Ham are in need of funds this summer
  • A number of players are in the shop window for the club
  • Everton are among a number of teams interested in Valentin Castellanos

West Ham United are in no position to stop player sales this summer. The Hammers need to raise £150 million this summer whilst preparing for their first season in the Championship in 14 years, meaning everyone is in the shop window.

It is hoped that Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville will make up a huge part of that sum, but West Ham still need to raise more, alongside some players simply not wanting to be part of a team that plays in the second-tier of English football.

Nuno Espirito Santo will stay at the Irons for next season, but his task of building a promotion challenging side is getting harder by the day.

Everton target West Ham’s Valentin Castellanos

Everton are now targeting a double-swoop of West Ham players in this window. As reported, David Moyes side are looking into taking El Hadji Malick Diouf from the Hammers in a cut-price deal.

Now, according to Football Insider, Everton are targeting a move for Valentin Castellanos alongside a number of other Premier League sides.

The 27-year-old scored seven goals in his only half-season as a Hammer and is said to not want to play in the Championship, but may be open to staying now that Nuno is remaining at the club.

Despite the Argentinian’s mind being at 50/50, Castellanos has stated his dream is to be in the Premier League and give the Irons need for funds, the club may be left with no choice.

Everton are unsure on the future of their frontline, with neither Beto or Thierno Barry living up to expectation. They believe that Castellanos can be the answer and that they can get him for much cheaper than usual, given West Ham’s needs.
