Manchester United significantly short of valuation for West Ham star
  • West Ham need to raise £150m this summer
  • Mateus Fernandes is expected to leave the Hammers and command a big fee
  • Manchester United are one of the teams interested in the midfielder

West Ham United are preparing for life in the Championship next season. The club are bracing themselves for a number of player sales, as is usual for a side that has been relegated, but the Hammers will need to sell more as they have to raise £150 million this summer.

Nuno Espirito Santo will stay at West Ham next season, as he looks to return the Irons back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. The former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss will be required with rebuilding a squad that needs to sell before it can make any moves.

Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen are two names that could command a big fee in the summer window, but one player who is being chased by many teams, could go for the biggest price tag.

Manchester United short of Mateus Fernandes valuation

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United are around £30 million short of West Ham’s valuation Mateus Fernandes.

The Red Devils are among a number of team’s chasing the 21-year-old, who is expected to leave the London Stadium, and was set to do so even if the Hammers remained in the Premier League.

The Irons believe that Fernandes can command the biggest fee of all their players this summer and want to take as bigger chunk of their £150 million needed, with the sale of the Portugal international.

Fernandes only joined West Ham last year from relegated Southampton, but has impressed significantly more, with Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Chelsea among Manchester United’s competition for the midfielder.
