West Ham plot move for Sheffield United full-back as exits loom
  • West Ham will play in the Championship next season
  • The club are expected to sell a number of players this summer
  • The Hammers are targeting Harrison Burrows as a replacement defender

West Ham United have begun to plan for life in the Championship but this summer will be harder for the Hammers than it will be for most team’s in England’s second division.

Nuno Espirito Santo has committed his future to the club but has to raise £150 million this summer, with a lot of player sales set to come. Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville are likely to be the first two big names out of the door but the exits aren’t expected to stop their as West Ham look to raise significant funds.

What is yet to be seen is how the Hammers will rebuild, with much of the Premier League starters from the season expected to leave. Despite this, and the Irons financial issues, links to a number of replacements have already begun.

West Ham target Sheffield United’s Harrison Burrows

According to Football League World, West Ham are plotting a move for Sheffield United’s Harrison Burrows with fellow full-back El Hadji Malick Diouf expected to be one of the names that leaves before the beginning of the season.

24-year-old Burrows has been the at the Blades for two years since joining the club from Peterborough United in 2024. Since then, the full-back had made a name for himself in the Championship, emerging as one of the best left-sided defenders in the division.

With Diouf expected to leave the club, Burrows represents the perfect replacement. Not only does the 24-year-old come with experience in the division but the defender can replicate the attacking output of Diouf whilst giving more on the defensive side of the ball.

Burrows is still young, and looks set for the top wherever he goes. Should West Ham make a move for the player, he looks the ideal fit for the rebuild at the London Stadium.
