West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing highly rated Palmeiras forward Heittor Vinicius.
ESPN Brasil claims the Hammers are monitoring the 18-year-old alongside Atlético Madrid and the City Football Group. No formal bid from West Ham has been reported at this stage.
Heittor is one of the leading prospects in Palmeiras’ academy and has represented Brazil at youth level. The versatile attacker can operate centrally or from a wider position, although he is primarily viewed as a goalscorer.
Heittor interest fits West Ham’s longer-term recruitment plans
The teenager joined Palmeiras’ academy in 2018 and helped their under-20 side win a domestic title last year. His form has since attracted attention from clubs looking to secure leading South American talent before their value rises further.
City Football Group reportedly submitted a package worth around €20m earlier this year, but Palmeiras rejected the proposal. The latest report places West Ham and Atlético Madrid alongside City in the race, although the strength of each club’s interest remains unclear.
For West Ham, Heittor would represent a future investment rather than an immediate answer to Nuno Espírito Santo’s striker shortage. The Hammers still need a senior forward capable of leading a Championship promotion push following Callum Wilson’s departure.
ReadWestHam recently examined how Wilson’s exit has increased the pressure on West Ham to reshape their forward options. Heittor could complement that rebuild, but relying on an 18-year-old adapting to English football would carry considerable risk.
Competition from Atlético and the City network also makes any deal difficult. West Ham’s interest is worth monitoring, but talks would need to advance significantly before Heittor could be considered close to joining.
