  • West Ham will play in the Championship next season
  • The Hammers have to make up £150m this summer
  • Zan Vipotnik has been identified as a possible target

West Ham United were relegated last Sunday have no begun to plan for a season where they have to get out of the Championship at the first time of asking.

Nuno Espirito Santo will know stay at the club after crisis talks on Monday, but West Ham are still set to face an uncertain summer, needing to raise £150 million before they can spend any money on rebuilding the squad.

Players such as Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes are expected to leave for big fees but others are also in the shop window. If the Hammers can do deals early, they can begin building a squad that has to get them back to the Premier League, given the club’s financial position.

A key are for West Ham to strengthen this summer, will be up top. Callum Wilson is expected to leave the club after his contract expires on June 1, and Valentin Castellanos’s future is up in the air, given his price tag and reluctance to play in England’s second-tier.

This would leave the Hammers with just one recognized striker in Pablo Felipe. The Brazilian is also yet to score for the club, spending most of his time in the starting XI behind Castellanos and not playing as a sole striker.

Zan Vipotnik could be the answer for West Ham. The 24-year-old Slovenian has been a star for Swansea City, netting 25 goals for the Swans last season, showing he could be just what the Hammers need.

The striker would not come cheap, but isn’t on a long contract and given he pull the Irons possess, a deal could be worked out.

Whilst at this stage, nothing is set in stone or official, Vipotnik is one of the first player the Hammers have identified that could be key to a promotion push in 12 months time.
