  • Axel Disasi’s stay at West Ham is far from certain
  • Charlie Cresswell is on the Hammers’ radar
  • The Toulouse and England Under-21s international left Leeds United in 2024

West Ham United are once again being linked with defensive reinforcements as they prepare for a significant overhaul, with uncertainty continuing to surround the team ahead of a potentially seismic summer.

Regardless of the division they end up in next season, the East London club are expected to be active in the transfer market, with defensive depth likely a top priority following a difficult season at the back.

The current rumour mill has focused on the potential departures of club captain Jarrod Bowen, Mateus Fernandes and El Hadji Malick Diouf; however, it is expected that centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos will also attract significant interest, while the stay of loanee Axel Disasi is far from certain.

Toulouse and England Under-21’s Charlie Cresswell eyed for Premier League return

Charlie Cresswell is now firmly on West Ham’s radar, with the Toulouse centre-back drawing increasing Premier League attention after a strong season in Ligue 1.

According to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas, West Ham are one of many English teams watching the 23-year-old ahead of the summer transfer season, along with Brighton and Crystal Palace.

Cresswell’s reputation has grown tremendously since he left Leeds United for Toulouse FC in 2024. The towering defender appeared 32 times in all competitions this season and has been cited as one of the best Ligue 1 centre-backs following a streak of stellar performances.

West Ham’s interest in the 21-capped England Under-21 international is not rare. According to reports earlier this year, the Hammers had already made unsuccessful offers for the defender before Toulouse raised their asking price following the defender’s excellent performances in France after arriving for just €1.5m.

West Ham may see the defender as a long-term cornerstone of their back line, especially given the club’s likely shift toward youthful recruits with growth potential.
