Former West Ham striker loses his third managerial job in four years
  • Former West Ham striker Carlos Tevez has been sacked as manager of Talleres
  • This is his third dismissal in four years
  • The 42-year-old may now look to manage outside of Argentina

West Ham United may be having their own troubles in the Premier League this season, but they are not alone, with a former striker also facing a difficult time in football.

Former Hammers cult hero, Carlos Tevez, has just been sacked from his third managerial position in four years.

Tevez played for West Ham ten years ago in 2006/07. The Argentinian contributed seven goals as the Irons completed the great escape after Alan Pardew signed him and fellow countryman, Javier Mascherano.

Tevez would go on to play for Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus before returning to South America with Boca Juniors.

Retiring in 2021, the former frontman has taken the plunge into management and has now run through three Argentinian top division teams, in remarkably short spells.

Carlos Tevez’s managerial baptism of fire

Tevez’s latest job was coaching Talleres in the Primera Division, in which he won 13 of his 35 games in charge.

By finishing 4th, the club qualified for the playoffs but a 1-0 loss to Blegrano in the round of 16 saw Tevez sacked. The sacking means the former West Ham player lasted less than 12 months at the club.

The 42-year-old’s previous jobs came at Rosario Central and independiente.

At Rosario Central, Tevez would last just five months, before only lasting nine with Independiente. Safe to say the Argentinian’s coaching career has not had a succesful start.

With Tevez now being a free agent once again, he could look to coach elsewhere, given his little success in his home country.

With his last sacking aligning with the end of Europe’s season, it will be interesting to see in the 42-year-old wants to test a different continent in search of managerial success.
