  • West Ham travel to Aston Villa for a 2.15PM GMT kick off at Villa Park
  • Aston Villa are aiming to make to the Champions League places this season
  • West Ham can climb out of the relegation zone with a win

West Ham United have one more Premier League game before the international break, as they look to get themselves out of the bottom three. Nuno Espirito Santo’s team are looking to keep their momentum going after keeping title chasing Manchester City to a draw last weekend.

The Hammers are only in the relegation zone on goal difference, with Nottingham Forest playing Tottenham Hotspur at the same time, Nuno’s team will know a win will take them out of the bottom three.

West Ham could also have another bonus, with Crysencio Summerville potentially back in contention for the game. The Dutchman has been out since suffering a calf injury in the FA Cup win over Brentford. The 24-year-old has been key to the Iron’s upturn in form, and will be a much welcomed return to the team.

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are determined to make the Champions League this season, they sit two points above Liverpool in 4th and want to keep it that way. Much like Manchester City, Villa have played in midweek and West Ham will be hoping for tired legs as they look for vital points in the survival race.

Key Statistics

  • West Ham have conceded 55 goals this season, the second worst defensive record in the Premier League.
  • Aston Villa have lost their last three home games in the Premier League.
  • West Ham have scored six goals in their last five matches in all competitions.
  • Aston Villa’s three straight losses in the Premier League is their worst losing run in the division since February 2023.
  • West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen has 17 goal involvements this season.
  • Aston Villa have only scored four goals in their last five games in all competitions.

Prediction

Here, a handful of our writer’s give their prediction for the game…

Matt Bottomley

“West Ham will see this game as a huge opportunity, they have to. Aston Villa are bang out of form in the league and the Hammers are the opposite. For much of 2026, Nuno’s Irons look together and fighting to get themselves out of this situation. With fixtures elsewhere, this game is absolutely huge and the Irons now have the belief they can take the points.

“Despite their form, there’s no hiding that Aston Villa have bags of quality. Emery will be hoping that the midweek win over Lille can truly lift his side, or they risk falling out of the top four. Just as West Ham see this game as an opportunity, so will Villa.

“I think this game could go blow for blow, but I’m backing the Hammers to find that winner.”

Prediction: Aston Villa 1-2 West Ham
