West Ham United may be in the midst of a relegation battle in the Premier League, but they have a number of stars out on loan in Europe and throughout the English football pyramid.

Seven of Nuno Espirito Santo’s Hammers are out on-loan.

Mason Terry stole the headlines this weekend. The young goalkeeper is spending the season at non-league Braintree Town and produced some heroics on Saturday.

The 21-year-old’s team looked set to lose heading into added time, with Jack Nolan netting an 87th-minute-penalty for the opposition, Morecambe. The shot stopper went up for a corner in the dying minutes with the ball falling to Terry, who laid down a perfect cross for Lewis Walker to slot home.

The draw keeps Braintree level on points with Morecambe, two points behind Brackley Town and safety.

James Ward-Prowse, on-loan with Premier League side Burnley, played 90 minutes for the Lancashire side. The Claret’s held off AFC Bournemouth to secure a 0-0 draw but remain nine points behind West Ham.

George Earthy, back from injury, was an unused substitute for Championship side, Bristol City as the Robin’s drew 1-1 with promotion chasing Middlesbrough.

In League One, Kaelen Casey started in Leyton Orient’s 2-1 win over Peterborough United in a result that keeps the team out of the relegation zone.

The defender played 62 minutes for Orient before being replaced, at which point his side were 1-0 up in the game.

Michael Forbes also started in League One, at fellow relegation threatened Northampton Town. The defender played 84 minutes as the Cobblers fell to a 2-0 loss to Burton Albion. The result leaves the team six points from safety.

European leagues

In Serie A, Niclas Fullkrug played 22 minutes for AC Milan. The on-loan West Ham forward came on late in the game but could not find the net as the title chasers lost 1-0 to Lazio.

Staying in Italy, Maxwel Cornet was an unused substitute for Genoa. The away side beat Verona 2-0, taking them to 13th in the league.

In Germany, Callum Marshall was introduced in the 64th minute as Bochum drew 1-1 with Hertha Berlin. The Northern Ireland international was brought on with his team 1-0 down and whilst he did not score, he helped the side find the equalizer.

In Hungary, goalkeeper Krisztian Hegyi kept a clean sheet for MTK Budapest in a goalless draw at ETO FC Gyor. The draw keeps the team out of the relegation zone.

In Turkey, Edson Alvarez remains side lined with injury so did not appear for Fenerbahce this weekend.
