West Ham fans slam ‘truly woeful’ Issa Diop performance

West Ham missed a golden opportunity to further cement their place in the Premier League top four after tasting defeat against Leeds United.

The Hammers started slowly at the London Stadium and were made to pay when Jack Harrison opened the scoring.

Despite vast improvement as the game wore on and goals from Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals on either side of half-time, it was a Harrison hat-trick that stole the show and all three points.

Whilst many Irons fell below their usual high standards under David Moyes, centre-back Issa Diop enraged the supporters on social media more than most.

The 25-year-old was rated 6.30 by Sofascore for a performance that saw the Frenchman lose possession on 11 occasions and beaten twice by dribbles.

This season Diop has made 16 appearances across all competitions for the Hammers.

Albeit far from a vintage West Ham display in recent times, there can be little doubt that the former Toulouse man was at sixes and sevens for the most part.

Nevermore so than this match have Moyes’ men felt the steadying influence of Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma.

With the game played at a frantic pace, neither Diop nor Craig Dawson were able to keep a lid on matters.

Ultimately it looks as though the £10.8million valued ace may pay the price with his place in the side either when Zouma returns or a new arrival can be secured.

matchday.
