West Ham are believed to be taking an interest in Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Hammers have previously been keen on the 27 year old Serbian and could be about to revisit their admiration in the January transfer window.

That’s according to reliable Irons’ insider ExWHUemployee on the popular The West Ham Way podcast.

In terms of forwards, we are looking to sign a new forward. They have had a look into the Championship. One is Mitrovic of Fulham who we have been looking at for years and years. He’s the top scorer in the Championship by quite some distance. He would offer an alternative to Antonio, he’s bigger and has experience of playing for Serbia. He’s got aggression. He could be a signing we look at because I know we’ve spoken to him before.

David Moyes is expected to enter the market for striking reinforcements as well as a new central defender following serious injuries to Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna.

So far this season the 69-cap star has scored a remarkable 22 times and provided five assists in just 21 Championship appearances.

Valued at £16.2million and under contract until 2026 at Craven Cottage (Transfermarkt), signing Mitrovic would be an expensive venture for the East London club.

Clearly in sparkling form this term, the Serb would provide Moyes with an instant option already boasting top-flight experience.

However, boasting just 24 goals in 104 Premier League outings compared to 64 in 103 second-tier games, Mitrovic has proven to be somewhat of a Championship phenomenon.

At present West Ham should perhaps be dealing a different table and will find better value for money elsewhere.
