Graham Beecroft lauds ‘outstanding’ Declan Rice performance

West Ham were held to a disappointing draw against Burnley at Turf Moor despite their best efforts to claim all three points.

The Hammers will feel they had done enough to take the victory back to East London from Lancashire and might’ve been awarded a penalty when Dwight McNeil impeded Craig Dawson.

However, it wasn’t to be for David Moyes’ side and the point is enough to keep the Irons well placed in the Premier League top four.

Despite the goalless draw, speaking on TalkSPORT (Sunday, December 12 15:50pm), commentator Graham Beecroft waxed lyrical over Declan Rice’s display.

West Ham will be disappointed their efforts didn’t bring three points. Particularly upset will be the outstanding Rice. He was exceptional.

Rice was awarded a 7.20 rating for a performance containing one key pass, 70 touches and one interception (Sofascore).

So far this season the 22-year-old has scored three times and provided three assists in 19 appearances across all competitions.

Albeit ultimately in vain, this was a pleasing performance from the £63million valued Iron.

Somewhat below par of late, Rice was back to his all-action, all-conquering best here and Moyes will be delighted.

With the busiest part of the season now upon us, West Ham needed their captain and talisman fitting on all cylinders and this was it.

matchday.
