West Ham have now suffered back to back defeats in the Premier League following a 2-1 loss at Manchester City.

The Hammers went down to the reigning champions at the Etihad despite holding their own for much of the match in a snowy setting.

David Moyes’ side are still inside the top four, have qualified for the Carabao Cup quarter-finals and have already advanced as group winners from Europa League Group H.

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright was upbeat about the Hammers on BBC Match of the Day 2 [29/11/21].

I’m really excited about what’s happening with West Ham, [they’ve] not lost a game by a single goal all season despite playing in Europe. I think that recruitment for West Ham is going to be important if they can get that right and add some real good depth to that squad…I like West Ham being amongst it, it’s quite exciting. Hopefully, it can continue.

Elsewhere ex-Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock was full of praise for Michail Antonio, describing the ‘unbelievable’ 31-year-old as the ‘most improved player’ at the club

Wright is spot on here.

It would be easy to be down following two defeats but it is important to remember the positives when considering the progress made this season alone.

January arrivals will be important if West Ham are going to maintain a push for Champions League football and a possible shot a cup glory.
