Trevor Sinclair believes Jesse Lingard could still return to West Ham

Former England midfielder Trevor Sinclair has suggested Jesse Lingard could still make a sensational return to West Ham.

The 28-year-old ace enjoyed a superb loan spell at the London Stadium last season and has since gone back to being somewhat of an also-ran at Manchester United.

Despite speculation linking the attacking midfielder with an immediate Irons’ reunion, Lingard opted to stay at Old Trafford for the foreseeable.

However, speaking on talkSPORT (Friday, October 29 9:30am), Sinclair tipped the England international to make a long-awaited comeback.

He looked like he owned the place! The boys loved him. If West Ham keep up their good form and Jesse does reach the end of his contract, I wouldn’t put it past him going back to West Ham.

So far this season Lingard has scored twice in seven appearances across all competitions – amassing just 55 minutes in the Premier League.

Valued at £19.8million and in the final eight months of a contract in Manchester (Transfermarkt), snapping up Lingard for nothing would still be a major coup.

Albeit David Moyes has rightfully moved on from the 32-cap star, for now, an opportunity to sign any top-level player as a free agent cannot be overlooked.

Lingard’s versatility would mean he remains a worthwhile inclusion in any Premier League squad – including West Ham’s.

matchday.
