Virals: West Ham target Ivan Toney has a message for doubters

Brentford striker Ivan Toney has hit back at those who may have doubted his abilities after breaking the Championship goal scoring record on Saturday.

Toney netted a record-breaking 31st goal of the season to send the play-off bound Bees on their way to a convincing 3-1 win over Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

Reportedly wanted by West Ham as well as a host of other top-flight clubs, the 25-year-old has been attracting plenty of attention with his exploits.

Following his record feat, the striker, who also contributed 10 assists, took to Twitter to post an emphatic message aimed at those who may have questioned his ability.

Toney’s future may hinge on whether or not Brentford earn promotion to the Premier League in the coming weeks.

Were the west Londoners to miss out, a price tag of £30million has previously been mooted in order to prize the former Newcastle United youngster away.

READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing Toney should be very near the top of David Moyes’ list of priorities this summer.

The Brentford man has been sensational this season and would provide everything that the Hammers need in a striker.

Quick enough to cause defenders an issue, powerful in the air and perhaps most importantly, a high-quality finisher.

Toney would provide major competition to Michail Antonio and could perhaps allow Moyes to rest and rotate more often than is currently possible.

matchday.
