West Ham Player Ratings: Chelsea (A)

West Ham were made to pay for their wastefulness in front of goal as the Hammers succumbed to a 3-0 defeat to London rivals Chelsea last night.

David Moyes‘ side were punished from an early set piece which saw Thiago Silva afforded a free header before a quickfire Tammy Abraham brace late in the second half.

The Irons weren’t without their opportunities in what was a relatively even game for the most part, but a lack of clinical shooting from the front men saw Blues goalkeeper Edouard Mendy relatively untroubled.

This defeat at Stamford Bridge means West Ham will be 10th in the Premier League on Christmas Day before their festive clash with Brighton & Hove Albion at the London Stadium on Sunday .

Midfield general Declan Rice was as inspirational as ever, albeit without the captain’s armband as Mark Noble was afforded a rare start this season.
