West Ham step up Nandez interest with ‘important’ proposal

Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez, formerly linked with Leeds United, is set to make a huge decision on his future after West Ham submitted an ‘important’ offer for his services.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, sourced by Sport Witness, West Ham have made a late move by stepping up their interest in the last few hours.

They claim the Hammers are eyeing a loan deal with an obligation to buy Nandez for €40million in the summer, however, the Serie A outfit are ready to offer him a pay rise to prolong his stay.

The Uruguay international is said to be unwilling to relocate in the late stages of the winter transfer window, however, the proposal is an ‘important’ one and he’s set to make a decision with ‘decisive hours’ ahead.

READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Nandez comes across as a bit of a workhorse, starting 17 of Cagliari’s 21 league games this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists from defensive midfield.

We believe, for €40m, the 24-year-old would present risky business for West Ham; he’s averaging just 1.5 tackles and 0.5 interceptions per league game this term.

In comparison, Declan Rice is averaging 3 tackles and 2 interceptions in what has been an impressive individual Premier League campaign.

Nandez would probably offer the experience and quality needed to improve David Moyes’ options, but there could certainly be better value for money elsewhere.
