West Ham United have been handed encouragement in their pursuit of Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez.
The Hammers are neck and neck with Valencia in the race to secure the Uruguay international’s signature this summer.
Recent reports have indicated that the player is keen on a move to the Mestalla despite the advice of his entourage, while West Ham have already expressed their willingness to pay Celta the full extent of his €50 million release clause.

It would seem, however, according to Spanish football journalist Hector Gomez, that Valencia are growing impatient with their proposed deal.

Gomez, via Twitter, states that the La Liga giants have informed Gomez’s representatives that an agreement must be struck in the immediate future or they will pull the plug and withdraw their offer.
West Ham will hope that Valencia do indeed drop out of the race for the attacker, as Manuel Pellegrini looks to add to his front-line this summer.
