West Ham United are ready to smash their transfer record to sign Maxi Gomez from Celta Vigo, but the player could yet snub their interest to join Valencia.
According to claims from Sky Sporters reporter Kaveh Solhekol, the Hammers have already offered to pay the full extent of the striker’s €50 million release clause in instalments, as they pursue a summer deal.

Gomez has long been a target for West Ham, who will be on the lookout to strengthen their attacking ranks as Marko Arnautovic nears an exit.

However, convincing the Uruguay international to make the switch to the London Stadium could yet prove problematic, with reports from Spain indicating that a transfer to Valencia is still interesting the player.
According to El Desmarque, Gomez’s representatives had favoured the more financially lucrative move to West Ham this summer.
However, the promising Celta front-man apparently has his heart set on a switch to the Mestalla, with the signing likely to be announced at some point next week.
There are still plenty of conflicting reports surrounding Gomez’s next move, and West Ham will eagerly await the player’s decision, if they have indeed offered to pay €50 million for the attacker.
