The Hammers had been linked with a move to sign the Slovakia international, as a double deal involving Celta’s Maxi Gomez had reportedly been on the cards.
However, as per Steinberg’s information, West Ham have turned their focus to more attacking midfield targets, with Villarreal playmaker Pablo Fornals at the top of their list.
Lobotka was not as influential as he had been in previous seasons for Celta last term, but he appeared to have emerged as one of the Hammers’ primary transfer targets.
However, it seems that Manuel Pellegrini is not necessarily focused on recruiting the diminutive midfielder, who could yet secure a move elsewhere with his future in Spain currently under scrutiny.
Other creative midfielders who West Ham could pursue this summer
Zaniolo would be an ambitious signing for West Ham. The youngster had an impressive breakthrough season at Roma.
Brais, another Celta Vigo player, has the potential to be an excellent playmaker. He would be an astute signing.
Praet has shown his creative qualities for Sampdoria for some time now. He could be a clever addition.
Sanson could leave Marseille this summer. He would provide West Ham with excellent passing and movement.
