West Ham United are set to rival Inter Milan for the signing of AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko, according to a report from Calciomercato.
The Hammers have been linked with a move to sign the Bosnian forward in recent weeks, but new claims have indicated that Serie A giants Inter have entered the race.
Dzeko’s future at the Stadio Olimpico is in doubt, and it has recently emerged that Roma do not intend to hand him a new contract at the club.
The report from Calciomercato states that Claudio Ranieri’s side would be willing to part ways with the experienced forward for a fee worth between €15 million and €20 million.
It is also claimed that West Ham were ‘tempted’ to pursue a January deal for Dzeko, as the future of their star man Marko Arnautovic came under scrutiny.
Nevertheless, ahead of the summer transfer window, Manuel Pellegrini is understood to still be keen on reuniting with the former Manchester City attacker.
Other strikers who West Ham could target this summer
Haller has been excellent for Eintracht Frankfurt this season and would be a good addition for West Ham.
Wilson is a proven Premier League goalscorer and continues to impress at Bournemouth.
Adams has been scoring freely for Birmingham City. At 22-years-old, he’d be a shrewd signing for the Hammers.
Soares leads the way as FC Porto’s top goalscorer this season, with an impressive 12 to his name.
Mitrovic has been a shining light in a miserable season for Fulham. He’s likely to be available, as they near the drop.
Wissam Ben Yedder
Ben Yedder has struggled for consistency this season but is still an impressive striker, and remains valuable to Sevilla.
