West Ham United are reportedly lining up a surprise move to sign former Manchester City and Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli.
According to claims from Italian news outlet TMW, manager Manuel Pellegrini has personally enquired about a potential deal for the forward, who could be on the move this month.
Balotelli’s future at OGC Nice has come under scrutiny recently, and it seems the Hammers have entered the race to recruit him.
Marko Arnautovic has been linked with an exit from the London Stadium, but it has been reported that Pellegrini remains determined to keep hold of his star man.
Nevertheless, if TMW are to be believed, the Hammers appear to be making contingency plans as the Austrian international’s predicament at the club becomes progressively precarious.
Balotelli is reportedly wanted by Serie A club Genoa, who could be forced to sign a striker in the January transfer window as Krzysztof Piatek continues to be linked with a departure.
