West Ham legend Carlton Cole released by Celtic

Former Hammer and fan favourite Carlton Cole has been released by Celtic FC. After new boss and former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers joined the club, he started to reshape the squad, which included letting some players go.

Besides Carlton Cole he also allowed Colin Kazim-Richards to leave the club, as well as Anthony Stokes was seen as surplus to requirements for The Hoops. Both played as strikers. This leaves Brendan Rodgers side with fewer striking options than they already had.

Cole joined the Scottish side after being released by West Ham last summer. Being a free agent for a few months he surprisingly joined The Bhoys in November.

The former Chelsea striker played five games in which he scored just one goal. The club only shed two sentences in their statement:

Celtic Football Club today confirmed that Carlton Cole is leaving the club. Everyone at Celtic would sincerely like to wish Carlton the very best of success for the future.

And so forth every West Ham longs to see Carlton back at their club in any way or form.
