West Ham have scouts watch Ivory Coast international striker

West Ham sent scouts to check in on KV Oostende striker Gohi Bi Cyriac this past week, according to reports.

Belgian news outlet Voetball Nieuws, quoted by Sporting Witness, have stated that the Ivorian forward has caught the eye of West Ham this season who have scouted watch him several times for Oostende.

The 25-year-old has hit 13 goals in 31 games for Oostende this season having arrived from Anderlecht where he featured in their Champions League campaign in 2014/15.

Cyriac has been handed six caps by the Ivory Coast, scoring one goal, but is behind the likes of Gervinho, Wilfried Bony, Seydou Doumbia, Salomon Kalou and Lacina Traore as the main striking options.

West Ham have been given the green light to spend the majority of their summer’s transfer budget on a big name striker to help propel them into the Champions League discussion next season, but it’s hard to imagine that Bi Cyriac was the calibre of striker the club had in mind.

He wasn’t the only player the Hammers had their eye on. The same report notes that the club were keeping tabs on 23-year-old Oostende defender Bruno Godeau. The former Belgium U21 international can play both centre-back and at left-back, and could be a decent back-up option next season.
