Hammers continue their pursuit of Belgian striker

The battle between West Ham and Tottenham continues with both parties willing to splash £25million on Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi.

Tottenham are confident that their title chase will convince the Belgian to join them, while West Ham are convinced that his relationship with former team-mate Dimitri Payet will tempt the striker to come to East London, as reported by the Mirror.

The friendship between the two players was discovered when Batshuayi tweeted several appreciation tweets about Dimitri recently.

The 22-year old striker has netted 15 goals already this season, and is surely willing to follow in the footsteps of other footballers and move to England. Marseille are looking to earn on their star player, and blocked a departure mid-season.

However, the difference between joining West Ham and Tottenham is that Harry Kane is surely the #1 at North London, whereas at the new Olympic Stadium he is more likely to play, since West Ham have been struck with striker injuries on numerous occasions the last two seasons.

Batshuayi is under contract until 2020.
