West Ham have joined West Brom, Derby, Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest, Saint Etienne and Nantes in the race to sign Newcastle forward Yoan Gouffran, HITC Sport understands.
The 29-year-old has fallen out-of-favour at St. James’ Pak since the arrival of Steve McClaren as the club’s new manager.
The Toon have spent big money this summer, including £13m on French U21 international Florian Thauvin to possibly replace Gouffran in the starting line-up.

Having signed for Newcastle for a reported £1.4m in January 2013 from Bordeaux., Gouffran has scored just 12 goals in 88 appearances, while also recording 8 assists.
According to France Football , Saint Etienne were leading the race to bring Gouffran back to Ligue 1, however, West Ham have now entered the race.
Newcastle are open to both loan and permanent offers for the winger-come-striker, who still has two years left to run on his contract in the North East.
Having seen a deal to sign Simone Zaza on loan from Juventus fall through today, the Hammers could propose a similar deal to Newcastle to recruit Gouffran
