Confirmed: West Ham make bid for striker, talks continue next week

West Ham’s deal to sign reported Chelsea target Burak Yilmaz from Galatasaray isn’t as clear-cut as it was reported yesterday.

News broke all over Turkish media yesterday afternoon of news that the 30-year-old was set to join the Hammers on a three-year deal after a fee in the region of €9-10m was agreed.

The Turkey international’s agent Ogan Tarhan has confirmed that West Ham have indeed made an offer for Yilmaz, and that talks will commence after Galatasaray’s upcoming game with Sivasspor.

“West Ham made an offer but we will not enter talks before the Galatasaray –Sivasspor game.” Tarhan told Lig Radyo yesterday.

However, Tarhan went on to state that talk of an agreed €10m fee was wide of the mark, and that the two parties hadn’t discussed money (personal terms) with the player despite rumours of a three-year, £48,000-a-week contract.

“After the game we will consider the move but the rumours regarding a €10 million offer are false we have not spoke about money.” Tarhan continued.

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic is a known fan of the player as well.

“Burak Yılmaz is a player who has scored over 60 goals in his last two seasons of course I think he is a very good striker,” Bilic was quoted as saying on Lig Tv. whilst manager of Besiktas.

Struggling to get deals for Javier Hernandez and Charlie Austin over the line, Yilmaz could be a viable option.
