Report: West Ham to sign Burak Yilmaz from Galatasaray after agreeing €9m fee

West Ham are closing in on reported Chelsea target, Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz, reports in his native Turkey are claiming.

A Spor, a Turkish television channel, first broke the news of the 30-year-old’s possible transfer to West Ham live on air.

The Hammers, keen to add a striker this summer, have entrusted Slaven Bilic to find a player, and he’s returned to Turkey in order to find that man.

Yilmaz has scored 111 goals in 161 games in Turkish football, catching the eye of Bilic during his time as Besiktas manager.

The fee is believed to be €9-10m, and the player will sign a three-year contract worth €3.5m-a-year, which works out at roughly £48,000-a-week.

Mustafa Ozgur of Turkish-based sports newspaper AS Sports also confirms a deal is ‘largely finished’.

A player of this calibre and his goalscoring record would be a great addition to the West Ham squad to battle it out with the likes of Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll.

West Ham are also believed to be working on a deal to sign Javier Hernandez from Manchester United while Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor remains keen on a move to Upton Park.
