West Ham will have to wait to sign former Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa from Real Madrid as he looks set to run down his contract at the Bernabeu.
According to Spanish source Marca, the 32-year-old right-back who has one-year left on his current deal with Madrid, will let his contract dwindle down and expire next summer rather than force a move away before the end of the current transfer window.
Following the arrival of Brazilian Danilo from Porto, Arbeloa is now third-choice at the right-back spot behind him and Dani Carvajal, and had been linked with a return to the Premier League having signed for Madrid from Liverpool in 2009.

The Spanish international snubbed Arsenal last summer, and has been subject to interest from West Ham over the course of this summer, but won’t look for a transfer anytime soon.

Only making 12 league starts for Madrid last season, it possibly would have been in his best interest to leave this summer for first-team football, but Arbeloa has decided otherwise.
West Ham are keen on adding a fullback this summer and are still pursuing a deal to sign Inter Milan’s Danilo D’Ambrosio.
