Danilo D’Ambrosio has been once again left out of Inter Milan’s squad, this time for their Europa League clash against Athletic Bilbao, fuelling rumours that the full-back is on his way out of the San Siro and into East London.
D’Ambrosio, who is approaching his 27th birthday, was left out of Roberto Mancini’s 21 man squad for their Europa League qualifier. The Naples born player has fallen out of favour with Mancini and is regarded as surplus to requirements from the ex-Man City manager’s point of view. Mancini joined fallen Giants Inter for a 2nd spell in December 2014 and one month later signed Newcastle full-back Davide Santon, pushing D’Ambrosio out of the starting lineup.
West Ham were reported to have agreed a deal of around £8million Inter but haven’t yet convinced the player. He may be linking up with former friend Angelo Ogbonna, who was his defensive partner at Torino.
D’Ambrosio, similar to fellow countryman Ogbonna, garnered much praise in his home country for his exciting performances at Torino, helping them back to Serie A. He could slot into Slaven Bilic’s side perfectly as he likes bombing forward as well as helping the defence. Bilic’s could see him as a long-term replacement for Carl Jenkinson, who although is in his 2nd spell at West Ham, Arsenal seem reluctant to give into West Ham’s bidding.
