West Ham are hopeful of signing Schalke defender Thilo Kehrer this summer as he looks set to leave Germany.
A report by talkSPORT suggests West Ham are potential suitors for the Germany U19 international, who wants to leave Schalke following a contractual dispute.
German source BILD claims that the 18-year-old failed to report back to training last Friday following the European U21 Championships.
Kehrer’s advisors believes their client’s contract with the German isn’t currently valid, despite reports claiming he’s contracted until the end of next season.
However, Gazzetta dello Sport says the youngster has rejected a professional deal with the Bundesliga side, as he’s currently on a youth deal, and is free to sign for any club, but they would have to pay a compensation fee.
Inter Milan are reportedly leading the race for the defender, who is believed to become one of the best players in Europe one day.
