West Ham have held ‘secret talks’ with the agent of PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to the Express.
The report quotes Le Parisien who claim that West Ham representatives met with Rabiot’s agent and mother, Veronique, at Paris’ Charles De Gaulle airport in recent days over a possible move to Upton Park.
The 20-year-old midfielder is one of the most sought-after young prospects in European football, with Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Liverpool all said to be tracking the player.
An established member of the France U21 squad, Rabiot rose through the ranks at both club level with PSG and international level, and has managed to nail down a place in the Ligue 1 side’s squad despite the millions spent on foreign exports every year.
Rabiot has made 64 appearances in all competitions for PSG in three seasons in the first-team, but his mother and agent believes he must leave PSG to further his career with more first-team football.
“Adrien loves and is attached to PSG, it is the club of his heart. He wants to have a career here. But it’s not possible.” she said.
“Are PSG trying to tarnish Adrien because we have asked for a transfer?
“If Adrien leaves PSG, he is not leaving for the sake of leaving, he is leaving in order to play.“
With a deal to sign Alex Song now facing major complications, West Ham are exploring other options.
