West Ham striker Andy Carroll has once again been linked with a return to his boyhood club Newcastle, as per The Chronicle.
Their new manager, Steve McClaren, wants to sign a new number nine as they lack a quality, consistent striker at the club, so who knows why they want to bring Carroll back.
“One thing I want to see is exciting players – a bit of pace, a bit of speed and individualism. This crowd has always had a number nine-style player and it’d be great to get one of them in,” he said when speaking with The Chronicle.
Carroll is currently battling back from his latest injury lay-off, but hopes to be back by the seasons start, which is unusually early for West Ham, as their Europa League campaign kicks off on July 2nd.
