West Ham are interested in signing highly-rated Cesena winger Gregoire Defrel, according to a report from HITC.
In desperate need of wing help, the Hammers have cast their net far and wide, with the hope on unearthing some unknown gems.
Frenchman Defrel has scored nine goals and registered six assists in 34 games this season for Cesena, and is also a reported target for Premier League rivals Tottenham and Southampton.
However, they now will face competition from a fourth side for his signature, as fellow Serie A side Torino are registering their interest in the tricky winger.
The 24-year-old’s future is in some doubt as he is co-owned between Cesena and Parma, but due to the latter’s financial difficulties, their side of the contract could be torn up.
That would make him a free agent, making it a level playing field. Given the Hammers’ reported intent this summer to be a bigger player in the transfer market, offering a large contract wouldn’t be out of the question.
