Irons In For Inter Defender Andreolli

West Ham are reportedly considering a summer swoop for Inter Milan defender Marco Andreolli, claims Tutto Mercato Web.

The 28-year-old wants to leave the San Siro at the end of the season, in search of more regular first-team football, having been relegated to back-up behind Nemanja Vidic and Juan Jesus.

A former Italian U-21 international centre-back, Andreolli has great experience under his belt, and has been around the block in Serie A with the likes of Roma, Sassuolo and currently Inter.

Having only made 18 appearances in the last two seasons combined, it’s unknown how much the bit-part player would cost to sign, but he has two years left on his contract with Roberto Mancini’s men.

It’s hard to see how he would fulfil his desire of playing more first-team football with West Ham however, with James Tomkins and Winston Reid comfortably settled as the starting centre-back partnership at the club.

The club is lacking depth behind them, with teenagers Reece Burke and Reece Oxofrd being thrust into match-day squads of late as emergency cover.
