Hammers Join Richards Chase

West Ham have joined Everton and Liverpool in the race to sign Manchester City defender Micah Richards at the end of the season, reports the Express.

The England international is currently on a seasons loan at Fiorentina, but his City contract is due to expire at the end of the season.

Richards turned down a long-term deal with the Premier League champions to search for first team football, as he’s behind Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna in the pecking order.

The 26-year-old will snub the advances of Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan because he wants a return to England next season having seen his career stall at Fiorentina, making only three league starts all season.

It’s said that West Ham and Liverpool, both expected to lose their current first choice right backs in Carl Jenkinson (end of loan) and Glen Johnson (end of contract) respectively, are eager to sign Richards on a free transfer.
