Yet more departures from the West Ham youth set up this month as Head of Youth Development Terry Westley begins to put his own stamp on proceedings at Chadwell Heath.
Midfielder Ben Marlow revealed on twitter that he would not be staying at West Ham beyond the end of the season, as he will not be offered a new contract.
“I would like to thank them for the ten years I have been there, I’ve learnt a lot and have many good memories. Now it’s time to move on and look to the future, wherever it may be. Hopefully it will be the start of a new era and better things will come.”
Marlow suffered the same fate as Kieran Bywater, who will also be leaving the club after being told last week that he will not have his contract renewed.
Signed from Stockport in the summer of 2013, Danny Whitehead was the only member of this group who made a first team appearance for the club, in the embarrassing FA Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest just over a year ago. The club announced today that his contract has been terminated with immediate effect.
Finally, Jamie Harney, who has been on loan at Colchester since November, has had his move made permanent, the club announced this afternoon. He’s made one appearance for the U’s this season.
