Niclas Füllkrug has rediscovered his scoring touch since leaving West Ham United for a season-long loan spell with Werder Bremen.
The 33-year-old returned to the Bundesliga club in August and has already scored four times in his opening five competitive appearances.
Füllkrug has struck three goals in four Bundesliga matches, while also finding the net in Werder’s DFB-Pokal first-round victory over Lüneburger SK Hansa.
It represents an impressive start to the striker’s third spell with the German club after a difficult period away from Bremen.
Füllkrug Making Immediate Werder Bremen Impact
Füllkrug opened his account during Werder’s 3-0 German Cup victory over Lüneburger before carrying that form into the Bundesliga.
The West Ham loanee scored in a 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig, with the Bundesliga match report confirming his 68th-minute goal.
He followed that by scoring the equaliser as Werder drew 1-1 away at Köln, with Füllkrug striking in the 69th minute.
His latest goal arrived during Werder’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Augsburg on 19 September.
With Bremen trailing 2-1 late on, Füllkrug scored an 86th-minute equaliser before Mitchell Weiser completed the comeback in stoppage time.
The Bundesliga’s official report records Weiser’s winner in the 93rd minute.
That leaves Füllkrug with four goals from his opening five competitive appearances back at Werder.
West Ham Still Own Füllkrug
Füllkrug remains under contract at West Ham despite spending the 2026/27 campaign in Germany.
Werder officially confirmed his return on a one-year loan in August, bringing the striker back for a third spell with the club.
His resurgence will therefore be of interest at London Stadium throughout the campaign.
Füllkrug endured a difficult spell in England following his 2024 arrival from Borussia Dortmund, with injuries disrupting his momentum.
He later spent part of the 2025/26 season on loan with AC Milan before returning to West Ham and subsequently heading back to Bremen.
The Hammers have since reshaped their forward line under Nuno Espírito Santo, with Taty Castellanos and Joël Piroe among the attacking options now available.

What Happens Next for Füllkrug?
Füllkrug’s immediate task is to maintain the scoring form he has shown since returning to Bremen.
Four goals from five competitive appearances is an encouraging start after two seasons in which injuries and changes of club disrupted his rhythm.
West Ham do not need to make any immediate judgement on his longer-term future.
For now, they have a contracted striker playing regularly and scoring goals at Bundesliga level, making his progress worth monitoring throughout the season.
