Jarrod Bowen trails only Salah and two others in remarkable attacking stat

Jarrod Bowen heads into West Ham United’s derby against Millwall with another impressive attacking statistic behind him.

The Hammers captain scored and assisted in the 6-0 win over Wrexham last time out, taking his Championship tally to four goals and three assists from seven appearances this season.

That performance was also the 10th time Bowen has both scored and assisted in the same league match since the start of the 2023/24 season.

Across England’s top four divisions, only Mohamed Salah, Finn Azaz and Davis Keillor-Dunn have managed it more often during that period.

Jarrod Bowen joins elite company

Bowen’s ability to contribute both goals and assists has become one of his most valuable qualities.

Since the beginning of 2023/24, he has now produced a goal and an assist in the same league game on ten occasions.

Only Liverpool star Salah has done it significantly more often, reaching 15 such matches.

Finn Azaz has managed 13 and Davis Keillor-Dunn 11, leaving Bowen fourth across all players in England’s top four divisions over that period.

That is particularly notable because Bowen has spent much of that timeframe playing in the Premier League rather than further down the pyramid.

His numbers this season suggest that influence has continued following West Ham’s relegation.

Bowen has started all seven Championship matches and has already produced seven direct goal involvements.

Bowen form gives Millwall major problem

Bowen’s latest contribution came during West Ham’s emphatic victory over Wrexham.

He found the net himself and also created another goal as Nuno Espírito Santo’s side continued their excellent Championship run.

It was not the first time this season Bowen has combined both sides of his attacking game.

He also scored and assisted during the 4-2 victory over Wolves earlier this month.

That versatility gives Millwall another problem to solve at The Den.

Read West Ham has already highlighted why Nuno’s side can end a 20-year wait by winning a fifth consecutive league match.

Bowen is likely to play a major role in determining whether that happens.

Millwall have conceded 13 goals across their last five Championship matches, making their defensive vulnerability one of the major themes heading into Saturday.

Bowen remains central to West Ham promotion push

Bowen has been one of West Ham’s most consistent attacking players for several seasons.

The club’s official profile records 20 goals and ten assists across all competitions in 2023/24, while he followed that with nine Premier League goals and 11 assists last season.

His Championship start suggests there has been little drop-off following relegation.

Four goals already place him among the division’s leading scorers, while his three assists leave him among the Championship’s most productive creators as well.

Read West Ham expects Bowen to retain his place in our predicted XI against Millwall.

For Nuno, the value is obvious.

Bowen does not simply score goals.

He regularly creates them in the same matches too.

Only three players across England’s top four divisions have done that more often over the past three seasons.
