Tomas Soucek targeted with vile threat before West Ham’s Millwall derby

Tomas Soucek with West Ham ahead of the Championship derby against Millwall

Tomáš Souček has been targeted with a disturbing threat ahead of West Ham United’s long-awaited Championship derby against Millwall.

A video circulating on social media appears to show a man confronting the Czech midfielder and making an explicit threat towards him before Saturday’s meeting at The Den.

Czech outlet TN.cz reported the incident and reproduced the footage, with Souček appearing to laugh off the comments rather than engage.

Soucek could yet return against Millwall

The timing is particularly notable because Souček is working his way back from an ankle ligament injury.

He has not played for West Ham this season, but Nuno Espírito Santo recently confirmed that the midfielder had resumed sections of first-team training.

Our latest Tomáš Souček injury update identified Saturday’s Millwall game as a realistic target for his return.

There is no guarantee Souček will be available at The Den, with West Ham understandably prioritising his full recovery.

West Ham prepare for rare Millwall reunion

Saturday will be the first competitive meeting between the clubs since February 2012.

West Ham won that game 2-1 despite playing more than 80 minutes with ten men.

Our complete West Ham vs Millwall rivalry guide details the history surrounding a fixture which has been absent from the league calendar for more than 14 years.

The Hammers have received an allocation of 1,774 tickets for Saturday’s 12.30pm kick-off, with the away allocation already sold out.

The focus should ultimately remain on football.

But the threat aimed at Souček is an ugly reminder of the intensity surrounding a derby West Ham have not contested for more than a decade.
