Vladimir Coufal sparks West Ham return talk after London Stadium post

Vladimir Coufal has sparked speculation over a possible West Ham United return after posting a picture of the London Stadium on social media, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future in east London increasingly uncertain.

The Vladimir Coufal West Ham return talk gathered pace on Saturday after the former Hammers defender shared the image on Instagram.

There is currently no verified suggestion that West Ham have approached Coufal or Hoffenheim about a transfer, but the timing has attracted attention as Nuno Espírito Santo continues to reshape his defensive options.

Vladimir Coufal West Ham return speculation grows

The Sun reports that Coufal’s London Stadium post has prompted speculation about a surprise return to the club he represented for five seasons.

Coufal left West Ham in 2025 after the expiry of his contract, making his 180th and final appearance for the club against Ipswich Town.

West Ham confirmed at the time that the Czech defender bowed out after 180 appearances, having also played a significant role in the club’s 2023 Europa Conference League triumph.

His relationship with West Ham has remained strong since leaving.

ReadWestHam reported in May that Coufal said he missed West Ham and still considered himself a supporter, while also revealing he remained in contact with players at the club.

A return would nevertheless require far more than an Instagram post.

Coufal remains a Hoffenheim player and there has been no confirmed negotiation between the clubs.

The speculation does become more interesting because West Ham are continuing to assess their options at right-back.

ReadWestHam has previously examined the decision facing West Ham over Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with the defender valued at around £25million and attracting considerable interest this summer.

Should Wan-Bissaka leave, another defensive addition could become necessary.

Coufal already knows the club, understands the demands of English football and remains hugely popular with supporters.

For now, though, his London Stadium appearance is an intriguing social-media development rather than evidence that a transfer is being negotiated.
