£25m West Ham exit accelerates as Aston Villa open talks

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s West Ham transfer situation has taken another significant step, with Aston Villa reportedly opening talks with the Hammers over a deal for the £25million-rated defender.

ReadWestHam reported earlier on Wednesday that Wan-Bissaka was increasingly likely to leave, with Aston Villa and Everton emerging as possible destinations.

Villa have now moved beyond simply showing interest.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka West Ham transfer talks begin

The Sun reports that Aston Villa have entered negotiations with West Ham as Unai Emery looks to add another right-back to his squad.

Wan-Bissaka is reportedly valued at around £25m, with West Ham prepared to listen to offers following relegation to the Championship.

Villa had explored a move for Emerson Royal but were unable to reach an agreement, increasing their interest in the former Manchester United defender.

West Ham have already been preparing for the possibility of Wan-Bissaka leaving. The club have been linked with several potential replacements, while Kyle Walker-Peters remains another option available to Nuno Espírito Santo.

Wan-Bissaka still has considerable value to the Hammers. He joined from Manchester United for £15m in 2024 and remains under contract until 2031, giving West Ham little reason to sanction a cut-price exit.

His situation has nevertheless changed quickly.

Morning reports suggested Villa were one of the clubs circling. Hours later, discussions between the clubs are now said to have started.

If those talks progress, West Ham could soon have another major sale to consider before the transfer window closes.
