West Ham have been handed another encouraging Troy Parrott transfer signal after AZ Alkmaar left the £27million-rated striker out of their starting XI on Saturday night.
Parrott began AZ’s Eredivisie opener against ADO Den Haag on the bench despite being one of the Dutch club’s most important attacking players.
That decision came while West Ham continue negotiations over a move for the Republic of Ireland international.
According to a fresh Hammers News exclusive, the Hammers are increasingly confident of completing the transfer and Parrott wants the move to east London.
The report claims discussions are now centred around a package worth roughly £27m, with promotion-related bonuses still being negotiated.
Troy Parrott to West Ham takes another step forward
AZ eventually introduced Parrott shortly before the hour mark as they went on to beat ADO Den Haag 2-0.
Hammers News believes his initial omission was a precaution while talks with West Ham continue, although AZ have not officially confirmed that the decision was transfer-related.
The timing is nevertheless notable.
Parrott scored more than 30 goals for club and country last season and has become one of AZ’s most valuable players.
Leaving him on the bench for the opening game of the league season therefore attracted attention at the same time as West Ham push to bring him back to England.
The situation has now moved beyond simply identifying him as a target.
West Ham are understood to believe a deal can be done.
Tottenham could benefit from West Ham deal
There is another interested party watching developments closely.
TalkSPORT reports Tottenham retain a 20 per cent sell-on clause from the deal which took Parrott to AZ in 2024.
The same report previously valued the striker at around £25m and confirmed West Ham were pushing hard to sign him.
A £27m transfer would therefore potentially generate a sizeable windfall for Spurs.
Parrott has rebuilt his career impressively since leaving north London, scoring 51 goals in 95 appearances for AZ.
That record explains why West Ham are prepared to invest heavily.
Nuno Espírito Santo already has Taty Castellanos, who scored twice against Portsmouth on Saturday, but the Hammers still want greater attacking depth before beginning their Championship campaign against Burnley.
Nothing is signed yet.
AZ’s decision on Saturday night, Parrott’s reported desire to make the move and West Ham’s growing confidence all suggest this is now a deal worth watching closely.
