West Ham open talks to sign £20.5m Premier League winger

West Ham have opened talks with Sunderland over a possible loan move for Simon Adingra as Nuno Espirito Santo looks to strengthen his attacking options.

The latest Simon Adingra transfer development comes after the Hammers lost Crysencio Summerville earlier this summer.

Adingra has been on West Ham’s radar during the window as the club search for another winger capable of playing regularly on the left.

The 24-year-old only joined Sunderland from Brighton last summer in a £20.5million deal. However, he struggled to secure a regular starting place before spending the second half of last season on loan at Monaco.

West Ham make Simon Adingra transfer enquiry

According to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, West Ham have now made a loan enquiry for Adingra and discussions with Sunderland are ongoing.

No agreement has been reached, but the talks represent another attempt from West Ham to add attacking quality before the Championship season begins.

Adingra would provide Nuno with a natural option on the left following Summerville’s departure for Al-Hilal. His pace and ability to attack defenders would also offer a different threat alongside Jarrod Bowen.

ReadWestHam previously identified Adingra as a potential replacement for Summerville when assessing how the club could reinvest its £150million transfer windfall.

West Ham have money available after selling Summerville and Mateus Fernandes this summer, but a loan would allow the club to strengthen without committing another significant transfer fee immediately.

The winger remains under contract at Sunderland until 2030, so the Black Cats are in a strong negotiating position.

For West Ham, the priority is now turning their interest into an agreement. Nuno needs more attacking options before the promotion campaign begins, and talks over Adingra provide a potential solution.
