West Ham make approach for £20m Premier League striker

West Ham United have made an approach for Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor as Nuno Espírito Santo continues searching for attacking reinforcements.

However, the Hammers would ideally prefer an initial loan deal with an option to buy rather than paying Sunderland’s £20million valuation immediately.

ExWHUEmployee, via the Sunderland Echo, reports that West Ham have now approached Sunderland over the 25-year-old.

The Black Cats value Isidor at around £20m. West Ham, meanwhile, are exploring whether a temporary agreement could be reached first.

That represents another development in a transfer which has gathered pace over the last few days.

Wilson Isidor move advances after West Ham approach

ReadWestHam reported on Sunday that West Ham were pushing to sign Isidor and could meet Sunderland’s £20m asking price.

The latest information suggests the Hammers would still prefer to reduce the immediate financial commitment.

However, Sunderland are in a strong position because Isidor remains under contract until 2028.

West Ham have been monitoring him for some time. In June, The West Ham Way reported that a loan move for Isidor was already under consideration as Nuno assessed his striker options.

Isidor also has proven Championship experience.

He was part of Sunderland’s promotion-winning side in 2024/25 before scoring six Premier League goals last season. Therefore, he offers experience of the exact challenge West Ham face this year.

The Hammers are also considering Troy Parrott, which suggests Nuno wants another established centre-forward before the season begins.

No agreement has been reached for Isidor yet.

Nevertheless, an approach represents clear progress. The next question is whether Sunderland will entertain West Ham’s preferred loan structure or demand a permanent £20m deal.
