West Ham ready to pay £20m for Sunderland striker

West Ham United are pushing to sign Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor as Nuno Espírito Santo looks to strengthen his attack before the Championship campaign begins.

Alan Nixon reports that the Hammers want the 25-year-old, with Sunderland prepared to consider a sale this summer.

Nixon’s latest update is stronger than the initial interest reported around Isidor. West Ham are now said to be willing to meet Sunderland’s asking price of around £20million, although persuading the forward to drop into the Championship could prove difficult.

Isidor believes he is capable of remaining in the Premier League after scoring six goals in 32 appearances last season. He also enhanced his reputation with Haiti at the World Cup, scoring a spectacular long-range goal against Morocco.

Wilson Isidor West Ham transfer could solve striker problem

West Ham’s need for attacking reinforcements has become increasingly clear following relegation.

Crysencio Summerville has left for Al-Hilal, while Nuno is yet to receive the attacking additions required for a promotion push.

Isidor already knows what is required in the Championship. He scored 12 goals in 43 league appearances during Sunderland’s 2024/25 promotion campaign before making the step up to the Premier League.

West Ham are considering several attacking options. ReadWestHam reported on Saturday that the Hammers are also weighing up a move for Middlesbrough attacker Morgan Whittaker, with Nuno looking for additional goals and creativity before the season starts.

Isidor would provide a more natural centre-forward option and has already demonstrated that he can score regularly at Championship level.

Sunderland have him under contract until 2028, but Nixon’s report suggests the clubs may be able to find common ground over the fee.

The bigger issue could now be convincing Isidor.

West Ham will hope the prospect of leading an immediate promotion challenge is enough to persuade the Haiti international to return to the Championship.
