West Ham United are exploring a potential loan move for Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson, according to ExWHUEmployee.
ExWHUEmployee reports that West Ham are assessing several Premier League players who have been made available this summer.
Nelson is among those under consideration, with the 26-year-old believed to favour remaining in London. Regular first-team football at the London Stadium would also appeal to the Arsenal academy graduate.
“The first one is Reiss Nelson of Arsenal,” ExWHUEmployee told The West Ham Way.
Ex added that West Ham have admired Nelson for a long time and believe he would provide “good natural width on the left”. However, discussions appear to remain at an exploratory stage.
West Ham have also been linked with Nelson’s Arsenal team-mate Fabio Vieira. ExWHUEmployee insists the Hammers currently have no interest in signing the Portuguese midfielder.
Reiss Nelson West Ham transfer could solve winger problem
Nelson has struggled to secure a regular position at Arsenal and spent last season on loan at Brentford. He also previously worked in west London during a temporary spell with Fulham.
Arsenal announced that Nelson had signed a long-term contract in 2023. The latest report claims he now has one guaranteed year remaining, with the Gunners holding an option for another season.
That contract position may complicate another loan. Arsenal could prefer a permanent sale, while West Ham appear focused on temporary deals as they rebuild for the Championship.
West Ham are already making progress elsewhere. The club have stepped up talks to sign Celtic midfielder Arne Engels, who is reportedly keen on moving to east London.
The Reiss Nelson West Ham transfer would address a different problem. Summerville’s move to Al Hilal removed pace and direct running from the left, leaving Nuno without a natural senior replacement.
Nelson would offer domestic experience and the opportunity to remain in London. West Ham must now establish whether Arsenal will approve another loan or demand a permanent fee.
