West Ham in talks to sign £30m Sunderland winger

West Ham have held discussions with Simon Adingra’s representatives as they consider a move for the Sunderland winger.

Sunderland would prefer a permanent sale and are understood to value the Ivory Coast international at around £30million.

The West Ham interest in Simon Adingra comes after Crysencio Summerville’s move to Al Hilal left Nuno Espírito Santo without a natural senior left winger. ReadWestHam recently assessed the options available to replace Summerville, with greater speed in wide areas now a priority.

West Ham interest in Simon Adingra develops

Adingra joined Sunderland from Brighton for around £21million last summer and signed a five-year contract. He started only nine Premier League matches before moving to Monaco on loan in February.

The 24-year-old scored three goals and provided two assists across 17 appearances in France. Monaco declined their option to sign him permanently but remain interested in arranging another loan.

Sunderland favour a sale which would allow them to recover their original investment. Adingra is also understood to want greater certainty over his future rather than another temporary move.

West Ham face competition from Ipswich Town and Hull City in England. Roma and RB Leipzig are monitoring the situation, while Monaco remain the sixth club involved.

Adingra would restore speed on the left following Summerville’s departure. He can attack defenders directly and already has experience of English football from his spells with Brighton and Sunderland.

However, TEAMtalk reports that West Ham’s discussions have been with the player’s agents. There is no indication that an offer has been submitted to Sunderland or that club-to-club negotiations are advanced.

His contract runs until 2030, leaving Sunderland in a strong negotiating position. West Ham must now decide whether Adingra represents sufficient value at the reported £30million asking price.
